About See Spot Run

The organization, See Spot Run, was established by a group of Boulder City residents who share the vision of establishing the Boulder City Dog Center, a special place for off-leash recreation, classes, dog shows and events.

The organization began to come together early in 2003, when founding members of See Spot Run approached the city requesting a dog park for off-leash recreation. Because the city was - and is still - experiencing a serious budget crunch, there was no room in the city budget for the dog park project. City staff recommended an arrangement similar to the agreement between the city and the BMX group, in which the city provides the land and the citizen group is given the opportunity develop and maintain it.

See Spot Run formally organized, incorporated, and began meeting on a regular basis. The foundering members conducted exhaustive research. They solicited the input of the American Kennel Club, event planners, dog trainers, veterinarians and other experts. It soon became apparent that a tremendous need exists in Southern Nevada for venues for all types of dog events, so the vision for the Dog Center expanded to a minimum of 8 acres plus parking as required by the American Kennel Club for dog shows.

See Spot Run has attracted an energetic group of volunteers who have demonstrated a willingness to role up their sleeves and get things accomplished. No funds are being requested from Boulder City. Construction will be accomplished through volunteerism, donations of materials and labor, grants, bequests and community fundraising. While maintenance and improvements will be funded by dog shows and events, the primary objective of the Boulder City Dog Center will always be to provide a safe place for off-leash recreation for Boulder City residents and their dogs.
